Return to Tortoise Mountain photos

petroglyphsIn June of 2005, we visited several petroglyph sites near the southern entrance to Black Canyon. One of those sites was the quirky little "Surprise Outcrop" site at Tortoise Mountain. At the time, we had the feeling that there were undoubtedly more petro sites lurking along the high basalt ridges of Tortoise Mountain. Today, Dzrtgal Jamie is off for a quick day trip to ascertain whether our hunch was correct or not. It's a gorgeous day in January and the Desert Canary has threaded its way to a likely looking spot to begin the petroglyph hunt. Let's join Jamie and see what turns up!
